New Zealand Woman's Weekly has been publishing for almost 90 years and now the iconic magazine is seeking an innovative deputy editor to join their busy team.
This is a key senior role within the editorial department. Working closely with the editor you will take a proactive role in ensuring there is a compelling mix of stories in every issue of the magazine.
You will also be responsible for generating story ideas, writing features, commissioning and editing copy as well as actively managing key contributors and photo shoots.
We are looking for an outstanding and experienced journalist who will live and breathe the magazine’s values. To apply, you should have a keen understanding of the issues and interests of women in New Zealand. We are looking for someone with exceptional interviewing skills, a packed contact book and plenty of ideas and enthusiasm. Ideal candidates will have had a varied career to date in magazines and/or features journalism with a major metropolitan newspaper and have some digital and social media experience. A keen interest in celebrity and royal culture as well as an excellent news sense and commitment to land a story will work to your advantage. You will also have experience in effectively managing a team, be well-organised with plenty of initiative, be able to apply sound commercial knowledge and have a commitment to editorial excellence.
