About the Role

Are Media is seeking a Head of Email to lead our email marketing strategy across our portfolio of iconic Australian brands. This role sits within our Content team and offers the opportunity to shape how we connect with millions of engaged readers through strategic email campaigns. You'll drive subscriber growth, enhance audience engagement, and work closely with editorial and commercial teams to deliver compelling content that resonates with our diverse readership.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive email marketing strategies across multiple brand portfolios
  • Manage end-to-end email campaign creation, from content planning to performance analysis
  • Lead subscriber acquisition and retention initiatives to grow email database
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to curate and optimise newsletter content
  • Implement A/B testing protocols to improve open rates, click-through rates and revenue 
  • Monitor email performance metrics and provide regular reporting to stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with email marketing regulations and best practices
  • Manage email marketing technology stack and vendor relationships
  • Work with commercial teams to integrate advertising and sponsored content

 

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years experience in email marketing, preferably in media or publishing or a multi-brand environment
  • Proven track record of growing email subscriber bases and improving engagement metrics
  • Strong knowledge of email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, Sailthru or similar
  • Experience with HTML/CSS for email template creation as well as improving email deliverability, segmentation and automation workflows
  • Strong understanding of how ESPs, CDPs (e.g. Segment) and analytics platforms connect, and how to leverage that integration commercially 
  • Analytical skills with experience in email reporting tools
  • Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Project management experience with ability to handle multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Strong collaborative approach with ability to work across multiple teams
