Because you’ll get to:
- Lead a growing video team in one of Australia’s most creative environments
- Work across diverse, iconic media brands
- Bring your art direction, motion, direction and content leadership skills to the fore
- Push creative boundaries and try new things — AI, emerging formats, motion trends? We’re into it
- Be part of a culture that’s inclusive, collaborative, and forward-thinking
You’ll also get:
- Your birthday off
- Four days volunteering leave each year
- Paid parental leave for all types of families
- Access to our full digital magazine library
- Learning Academy access (digital, mentoring, Lunch ’n’ Learns)
We’re mostly in-office (4 days a week), but you’ll also be out shooting and working with the team to grow our video output.
About the role
Love art directing and making motion happen? Obsessed with scroll-stopping creative? Ready to lead a video team?
We’re on the lookout for a Creative Lead (Multimedia) to help shape the output and elevate the work of our newly-shaped video and motion team within the Are Media Creative Studio. This is a new and exciting role for someone who is an expert on art direction across multiple platforms. You’ll particularly love motion content and directing a small team.
Whether it’s commercial, editorial, social or trade work, you’ll help steer creative on a range of projects from pitch to final delivery across digital and print. While you won’t own every project we will look to you to keep things on track. You’ll come to us as a proven collaborator with an experienced art director’s eye and a passion for what’s next in social and video.
Duties
- Creative leadership – Drive the creative quality and output of all video and motion projects. Own the visual integrity of our multimedia storytelling across brand and social platforms alongside our Creative Director and Creative Leads.
- Manage the team – Mentor and support a small crew of talented producers and editor. Oversee day-to-day workflow, creative resourcing and project pacing.
- Pitch and produce – Contribute big-picture and social thinking to commercial pitches and produce pitch artwork for the strategic response. Shape briefs into creative executions that hit the mark (and then some).
- Innovate and explore – Keep at the front of content creation — from social formats and AI tools to motion trends and platform shifts.
- Collaborate and connect – Be a strategic partner to editorial, sales, marketing and external clients. You’ll help the team turn briefs into brave, compelling content.
Skills and experience
- Strong creative direction and visual storytelling experience, especially in digital, video and/or motion graphics
- Pro-level Adobe CC skills (Premiere Pro, Indesign, After Effects, Photoshop etc.)
- Experience art directing for video, social and digital platforms (print would be a plus)
- Confidence briefing shoots and working with DOPs, editors and designers
- Solid understanding of social-first formats and content that moves audiences
- Great taste, strong references, and a nose for what’s next
- A team-first mindset with a love for mentoring and motivating others
- Experience managing timelines, budgets and fast-paced production cycles
Nice to Have
- Fashion, beauty, interiors, lifestyle or food content experience
- Magazine/print experience
- Photography skills or a background in design
- A desire to test, learn and lead with positivity
