About the role

We're looking for an experienced Copy Editor to help shape the quality, voice and consistency of The Australian Women's Weekly, Australia's most trusted and iconic media brand.

Working as part of a collaborative editorial team, you'll edit, proofread and fact-check content across print and digital platforms, ensuring every story meets the highest editorial standards. You'll work closely with editors, writers, designers and production teams to deliver engaging, audience-first content while contributing to efficient editorial workflows and meeting publishing deadlines.

What you'll do

  • Leading the end-to-end copy editing workflow across The Australian Women's Weekly for both print and digital platforms.
  • Copy editing, fact checking and refining content to ensure accuracy, consistency, legal compliance and alignment with brand style.
  • Coordinating editorial workflows across writers, editors, designers and production teams to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Copy fitting, proofing and preparing content for publication using editorial production systems.
  • Supporting digital publishing by uploading, formatting and optimising content across CMS platforms.
  • Using analytics, SEO principles and digital publishing tools to improve content performance and workflow efficiency.
  • Providing guidance and constructive feedback to editorial contributors and freelance writers to maintain high editorial standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve editorial processes, systems and ways of working within a digital-first publishing environment.
  • Supporting editorial leadership on cross-platform publishing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in copy editing or sub-editing within a newsroom or publishing environment.
  • Exceptional editing, proofreading and fact-checking skills, with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Strong understanding of editorial style, tone and storytelling across print and digital platforms.
  • Experience working with editorial production systems such as InCopy, CMS platforms and digital publishing tools.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across editorial, production and creative teams.
  • Experience using SEO principles, analytics and digital workflow tools to support content performance will be highly regarded.
  • A genuine passion for fashion, beauty, lifestyle and culture content, with an understanding of The Australian Women's Weekly brands.
  • Knowledge of the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code
