About the role

As Deputy Editor, you’ll work closely with the Editor to drive exceptional editorial, commercial, and production outcomes for Gourmet Traveller. You will collaborate with the editor, creative director, contributors, and commercial partners to ensure consistent standards are implemented across multi-platform mediums.

Duties

  • Omnichannel content creation, including feature writing, proofing and sub-editing copy.
  • Brief and commission contributor content, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met and overall GT standards are upheld.
  • Manage production workflow to ensure clear communication within the team and keep omnichannel production flows freely and on schedule.
  • Ensure commercial deliverables are met.
  • Work closely with the team on brand extensions such as events like the Annual Restaurant Awards, books, one-shots, proactive native content campaigns and digital executions.
  • Support the editor with team leadership duties, including recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, recognition and offboarding.

Skills and experience

  • Highly focused with strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • A minimum 7 years experience in publishing and content creation with proven editorial judgment and the ability to create content that drives results, including both editorial and commercial. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively. 
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with previous management experience.
  • Experience with editorial tools and digital publishing platforms, including InDesign, Content Station and Wordpress.
  • Ability to deal with a fast-paced, changing environment.
