Editor – New Zealand Woman’s Weekly

Due to an internal move, a rare and rewarding career opportunity is on offer.

For more than 90 years, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly has been part of the rhythm of Kiwi life — trusted, loved, talked about, and passed from hand-to-hand. Now, one of the most influential editorial roles in the country is open.

We’re looking for an exceptional Editor to lead New Zealand Woman’s Weekly into its next chapter. Someone who can deliver exceptional content and inspiration to more than half a million Kiwis every week.

This is a role for a confident, curious and values-driven editorial leader who understands the power of storytelling — and the responsibility that comes with it. Someone who knows how to balance warmth and authority, tradition and reinvention, celebrity and real life. Someone who instinctively understands New Zealand women and the stories that matter to them right now.

As Editor, you will:

  • Set and safeguard the editorial vision of New Zealand Woman’s Weekly.
  • Ideate and create high quality content that delivers on the vision.
  • Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing editorial team.
  • Shape the agenda — from agenda-setting exclusives and big celebrity interviews to service-driven features that resonate deeply with readers.
  • Champion journalism that is trusted, inclusive, empathetic and entertaining.
  • Collaborate closely with commercial, marketing and digital teams to ensure the brand continues to thrive in a changing media landscape.
  • Be the public face of an iconic New Zealand brand.

You will bring:

  • Proven senior editorial leadership experience in a major consumer media environment.
  • Sharp news judgement and a deep understanding of audience-first storytelling.
  • A contact book to envy and the ability to nurture relationships.
  • A genuine passion for women’s lives in all their complexity — from family and health to ambition, culture and connection.
  • The ability to innovate and evolve a brand without losing what makes it beloved.
  • Calm authority, creative vision, and the confidence to make big calls.

This is more than a job. It’s the chance to steward one of New Zealand’s most-loved media brands, to shape national conversations, and to create journalism that connects across generations.

If you have the experience, the instinct, and the heart to lead New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, we would love to hear from you.
