About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Are Media's dynamic Are Direct team as a Management Accountant, where you'll play a crucial role in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making in the distribution business serving Are Media and 200 publisher clients. 

Duties

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for the Are Direct division
• Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance against budget and forecasts
• Support budget preparation and quarterly forecasting processes for direct-to-consumer operations
• Analyse subscription revenue streams, customer acquisition costs, and lifetime value metrics
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators specific to direct marketing campaigns
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic business decisions
• Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to evaluate campaign profitability
• Maintain and improve financial reporting systems and processes
•  Support external audit requirements and ensure compliance with accounting standards

Skills and experience

• CA/CPA qualification or equivalent professional accounting qualification
• 3-5 years of management accounting experience, preferably in media, publishing, or subscription-based businesses
• Strong Excel skills and experience with financial reporting systems
• Solid understanding of management accounting principles and financial analysis
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication abilities with capacity to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy standards
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams
