About the role 

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Controller coordinates the traffic management and advance planning for a portfolio of magazine titles. You’ll work with editorial, advertising, marketing and external suppliers to ensure all inputs are accurate, approved and delivered to schedule, so production runs on time. 

Key responsibilities 

• Planning and scheduling magazine titles and ancillary work, ensuring all requirements are in place before production commences. 

• Quoting and coordination of enhancements and non-core print work—clarify briefs, engage suppliers, analyse options and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions. 

• Traffic management: manage delivery of files, inserts and inputs; provide clear format guidance; maintain accurate print run/state break-up information; escalate issues early. 

• Quality and logistics monitoring with printers/distribution, managing issues through to resolution. 

• Accurate use of production systems and reference material. 

About you 

• Strong attention to detail, confident working to deadlines and across multiple stakeholders. 

• Customer-focused and consultative—able to take a brief, create clarity and manage expectations. 

• Sound numeracy and Excel skills; comfortable interpreting data and maintaining accuracy. 

• Print production exposure is desirable (magazine experience an advantage), with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced team.
